Update #3

Well, that's all the adventures I've had abroad. As I mentioned in my last update post, I'll be doing a series of posts about travel/ study abroad tips I have learned from my time here. I've packed all my bags and now, it is just a waiting game until I take my flight home. The sadness is hitting me much harder than I thought it would now that the end is finally here. Thank you to everyone who has stayed with me on the crazy adventure!

Madrid

Everyone told me NOT to go to Madrid because it wasn't worth my time but I'm so glad I did because they were so wrong. I really loved Madrid. There was a lot to be seen all around the city and it was more green than I thought it would be. It seemed to be split down the middle when it came to the people because half seemed like locals and the other half seemed like tourists. It rained both days I was there but somehow I think the rain made it an even prettier city.  I spent the first day walking around various plazas and parks a friend of mine had recommended (shot out to Christina). The plazas were much more open and less crowded that the ones I have seen in Valencia and Barcelona which is one thing I really liked about them. All the streets seemed to be sloped upward reminding me of the streets in San Francisco. Living abroad: Apartment, shared, or homestay?

When deciding how you should live abroad, the most important thing to consider is yourself, not the cost. I decided a single bedroom in a shared apartment was best for me but I have lived with people who did a shared room and many of my friends were in homestays. Depending on where you study you might not have the same options I did so my knowledge of other situations (like dorms abroad) is minimal. Here is my take on all three of the situations offered to me. Single Bedroom, Shared Apartment: This worked out perfect for me because as much as I like being social, I really just need to be alone sometimes to relax. The common areas were shared, including the bathrooms but it was never really in issue in my apartment. I must say I really lucked out with the roommates I got because I loved all of them. Barcelona

A crazy cool fountain we found randomly in the Central Park Before I even came to Spain, I purchased a ticket to Abroadfest in Barcelona. I thought it would be cool to go to a music festival in Spain and it was. I was a little nervous because a group of my friends had gone the weekend before and had a weird pickpocket/stalking experience. For starters, EVERYONE at Abroadfest was an American studying abroad. It's not a requirement but it does target students who are abroad, hence the name. It was supposed to be outside but ended up getting moved to two different clubs.  We got to Barcelona late on Thursday night, got dressed, and went straight to the club. It was called Razzmatazz, had three levels, and was super cool. The crowd was awful but the music was good. A pond with row boats to rent We all woke up the next morning to go explore Barcelona.
